Goals/Purpose Of Program

The Music, Arts & Culture (MAC) Program’s goal to engage 13-24 year old Native youth in music, arts, and cultural programming that will draw upon their existing skills and talents, teach them new skills, develop a community of creativity, and highlight youth’s artistic talents within the community.  Although we do offer arts, music, and cultural activities within our other programs, we wanted to ensure that youth had increased opportunities to participate in a greater number of activities on a consistent basis.

The MAC Program offers one-time, short-term, and weekly programming. Most activities are drop-in, but we encourage youth to come regularly so that they can develop and share their skills with others at a faster pace than if they only drop in sometimes.

Program Activities

Many of our weekly programs are led by our many awesome volunteers who we could not do all of our programming without.  Weekly programming includes:

Tuesdays -      Music:  guitar (acoustic & electric),  keyboards, theory

Wednesdays -  Cooking

Digital Photography and Cultural Days are also offered.

We are always adding more activities, so check out our activities page for more info.

Other projects have included large-scale photomurals, studio time and music related workshops, a mural project with youth mentored by local artists, drum-making, beading and sewing classes to help youth learn basic sewing skills through simple projects such as Xmas stockings, pillows, and skirts that they can wear as regalia and/or to ceremonies, artshows, Open Mic Nights, a Rock Camp, and Urban Survivor Camp.

How Youth Can Become Involved

Most of our activities are drop-in, so just come by!

You have to sign up for other activities such as outings, drum making, or workshops.
