2016 Bentwood Box Auction raises over $88,000 for UNYA

Many thanks to the artists, bidders, matching donors, and the Lattimer Gallery, the 2016 Bentwood Box Auction raised a record $88, 301.50 for the Native Youth Centre and current UNYA programming – more than double the funds raised last year!

For the past five years, the Lattimer Gallery has organized this event to help support the Urban Native Youth Association. All of the work in the creation of these small cedar boxes was donated: the boxes were steam-bent and constructed by Métis/Cree artist James Michels; the promotion and collection of funds were donated by the Lattimer Gallery; and all the artwork was donated by the artists. All proceeds were donated to UNYA. We are once again very grateful for everyone's generosity, and look forward to next year's event.

You can view this year's boxes here.  You can also purchase commemorative books highlighting every box for each year by contacting the Lattimer Gallery.
